Cover letter Dear Personnel Manager I am an optimistic person who likes to face regular challenges. I believe that my passion and characteristics make me an ideal candidate for the position available. While studying at university, our department taught us in English, which helped me to develop a global perspective. As I also wanted to connect with international society, I enjoyed teaching foreign students Chinese. In my freshman year, I participated in an English drama contest and won the prize as best supporting actor. I also did duty as a volunteer at an International Conference Workshop on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, which was an extensive seminar featuring lectures and talks by professors from around the world. After graduation, I applied to study abroad, in Canada, to practice my language skills. While in Canada I did not just study English, I also learned a different country’s cultural values and traditions. At times I taught my friends Chinese. I later found a job doing construction at a Canadian company. That was a very special experience for me, despite doing very hard manual work. At this job I gained valuable experience, like the skills needed to understand and collaborate with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. These skills allowed me to become independent, self-motivated and good at solving problems, which help me to adapt quickly to a new environment. I am an amiable person. In my work I always keep a positive outlook and take responsibility for what I do. When I get assigned a job I first analyze the task individually, after which I take the job to a team, because I believe that team work offers powerful advantages, such as synergy. I am confident that I can devote myself, with my skills set, to an international job opportunity.
The candidate’s resume is very basic, although with good points of reference. You can flesh it out a bit by adding your extra-curricular activities to the resume, instead of having them in your autobiography. Your autobiography was good.
I wish you all the best in your future career!
