(It’s a good idea to expand a little more in the work experience section on what you did while working in your various positions. Remember that you are trying to sell you skill set, knowledge and experience. Just identifying your position and main duties doesn’t give a prospective employer much information on what you can do and why they should ask you to attend an interview or employ you.) Autobiography I graduated from National O O Senior High School and then went on to attend the O O Sport University. I am interested in dancing and pushed myself to take the aerobic dance class for teachers exam, which I passed successfully. I also taught high-school (?) classes in this field and developed and excellent relationship with the students. I attended the world soft tennis competition in O O in (year) as a volunteer receptionist. This afforded me the opportunity to practice and improve my English skills, and also enhanced my ability to work independently. During my tenure at O-O financial company (?), I was closely involved in customer development. This required the collation of customer information from internet questionnaires, street questionnaires and telephone interviews. Customer relations and sales were another key focus of my position at O-O. I provided customers with a one-on-one sales service and helped them find the products that best met their needs. This required that I maintained an excellent and up to date knowledge of (financial markets, stocks and shares, tax law, company law etc). I am a highly motivated worker and am constantly pushing myself to achieve. At O-O, I was quickly promoted to consultant after only a month at the company after I gathered and processed the results of 320,000 questionnaires. The next month, I processed 600,000 questionnaires and was promoted to the position of manager within a year. While at O-O, I was also charged with the organization of many major events such as seminars, meetings and social events. I gave talks at the O O Institute of Technology Commerce and the O O University of Education. During my tenure at the Bank of O, I held a variety of positions in several different departments. I worked as a teller where I dealt with deposits and remittances and built up a reputation with customers as an efficient and friendly staff member. I also worked in the loan accounting division as well as in funds marketing and insurance sales.
The overall appearance of your resume is very important. You must use a clear and professional looking layout – first impressions count! At the moment your resume needs some work in this regard. If you are unsure how to layout a resume in English you can try searching for some ideas on the internet. I have only done some basic formatting.
A typical job application in the US involves a resume which includes sections such as your education, work experience, other qualifications such as licenses or certificates, and skills such as languages or technical computer programs.
A separate document that is included is a cover letter. A cover letter introduces you to the prospective employer and is written and is written in the style of a letter, rather than bullet-pointed pieces of information as in a resume. The point of a cover letter is to explain why you are applying for the position and why you are the ideal person for the job. You should also highlight skills and experiences that make you well-suited to the job. Every cover letter should be adjusted to suit the position you are applying for. Again, if you are unfamiliar with writing cover letters, take a look at samples on the internet.
It is unnecessary, and probably unadvisable, to attach an autobiography for job applications in the US and most Western countries. Of course, if they ask for specific information, you should provide it.
In your autobiography I changed quite a few things around. In some cases I wasn’t totally sure what you meant by some of the details, so always make sure your points are clear. Much of the information in your autobiography could be put in a cover letter.
Overall, your grammar and spelling were pretty good. Just make sure your points are very clear and that you provide enough information for a prospective employer to get a good understanding of your skills, knowledge and experience.
