Dear Sir or Madam,

I am O O, a salesperson with more than OO years of experience in IT-related fields. I have a deep knowledge of power-switching supplies, adapters and power banks for NB use, 2.5” and 3.5” HDD enclosures, PC chassis, keyboards, and second fan products, and am skilled in acquiring new customers, expanding markets, maintaining customer relationships, and monitoring the market movements of self-owned brands and competitors. I also have an understanding of OEM & ODM business models, international trading, shipping, and cost controlling, in addition to studying report writing, typewriting, and English at O University.

After joining O as a sales specialist for O, O O, O, and O, I learned a great deal about IT sales channels, investigating market prices, pricing, and cost analysis. My experience has given me a solid foundation in national and international trade and many opportunities to attend trade shows. I appreciate my boss, who gradually increased my responsibilities, widened my vision, and allowed me to realize my potential.

At O O, I was responsible for implementing scanner and keyboard OEM projects, through which I earned an excellent reputation and helped the company more efficiently acquire new customers. I was also well-respected for my achievements in increasing the sales volume of current customers.

I am an optimist and easygoing, but also active and efficient. When factories faced troubles, I negotiated with customers to help them reach a compromise. These kinds of disagreements make people frustrated, but my experience in resolving them has widened my vision and improved my ability to deal with conflict. Every time I get a new customer, I feel a strong sense of achievement.

I am deeply grateful that you spent your valuable time to review my application. If I have the opportunity to work for your rapidly expanding company, I will devote my utmost effort in addition to my knowledge and experience.

Yours truly,
O O

‧ Be sure to cater your autobiography to the job for which you’re applying. No need to list so many skills at the beginning – all of that information is in your CV. Instead, include the ones that are most relevant and spend more time being specific about the kinds of things you did at the companies you worked for. Conflict resolution is something everyone must deal with in their job, but what is a specific problem you had to overcome? Telling a story will be more interesting and tell the employer a lot about you! Western companies in particular want to see a passion for your work in the autobiography. They want to get a feel for what your personality is like.

‧ Western companies also want to know that you are interested in working for their company in particular, so it is important to add a few lines about how you could contribute to their company – some project or product of theirs you think is interesting to which you could contribute your skills.

‧ Start with something that will grab the recruiter’s attention, maybe a summary of your most impressive achievements. Many do not read past the first couple sentences. Something like: I am O O, a salesperson with more than OO years of experience in IT-related fields. While working at O and O O, I not only grew our customer bases, but also spearheaded the release of new OEM products and even increased orders from our existing customers. I believe I would be an excellent fit at COMPANY, because ____. In particular, I find your ____ very interesting, because ____.....

‧ Use the recruiter’s name instead of “Sir or Madam” if you know it.

‧ Keep it short. Recruiters are likely reading hundreds of these, so they don’t have lots of time. Only include the interesting stuff.
